I am sipping a Chai Tea Latte in a coffee shop in a cold,
slightly rainy Chicago, and I am wondering why on earth have my hubby and I ever
returned from our honeymoon in the Philippines? I warm my soul by scrolling
through the photos I am about to share with you, and take solace in knowing
that we’ll be leaving on our next adventure before we know it.
I can’t believe that merely a few months ago we were sitting
in the same coffee shop looking for our ideal honeymoon location. On the hunt
for white sand, turquoise beaches, peaceful, authentic locations, and a certain
level of comfort only a resort can provide, we found our ideal little island
paradise at the Dos Palmas Island Resort & Spa in the Palawan archipelago
of the Philippines.
Located on its own private island in the tropical waters of
Honda Bay, the resort is the perfect safe haven for tourists like us who enjoy
a little piece and quiet in a pristine natural environment. The small number of
beach villas - and hence tourists - gave us the impression that the resort was almost
entirely ours, and the genuinely nice staff made us feel right at home
from day 1.
Our initial worries of boredom faded away quickly as we
started to take advantage of all the island could offer. We tried everything
from long hours of kayaking around a mangrove forest and sipping tropical
drinks by the pool to exploring the resort’s colorful coral reefs and enjoying
an aromatherapy massage. But our favorite pastime of them all was sitting on
the beach marveling at this breathtaking landscape. I can safely say that I
have never been so relaxed in my entire life, nor have I ever seen so many
shades of turquoise in one place!
Of course our 5 days at Dos Palmas had to come to an end.
But we left with a newly found inner piece, a new adventure to Sabang on our
radar, and countless photos. Enjoy a small sampling of our images taken at the resort, read Part 1
of my honeymoon diaries, and I hope to see you back for Part 3!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ildiko
